Memphis wealth didn't drain away after Stanford, Morgan Keegan

Ever since three of the four big banks were bought and the name Morgan Keegan passed out of use, Memphis’ image as Wall Street on the Mississippi has faded.

Yet, the wealth accumulated here around cotton and what came next – retail, real estate, medicine,  manufacturing, logistics – never entirely vanished.

“There’s still a ton of wealth being created in Memphis,’’ said financial executive Darrell Horn, co-founder of Green Square Capital Management. “Memphis is a risk-taking city.”
